Every one of us is a victim of our great archnemesis “procrastination” whether it is a boy from grade 1 or a Ph.D. student. I have been a victim of this great enemy for a long time but recently I came across a technique which can be used against procrastination. It's called the Pomodoro technique. Pomodoro is an Italian word that means tomato. This technique includes a stopwatch that resembles a tomato hence the name Pomodoro technique. Anyway, let's jump into the technique.

First set the stop watch to 20–30 minutes and start working on your assignment/project etc.

When the bell rings after the specified time, reward yourself with a few minutes of rest or refreshment.

Repeat the steps again and again until you finish your work. Now compare your output with and without this technique if the technique works for you. I am sure it will work because it worked for me.

When I did this experiment on myself, first I found it difficult because my mind would be captured by a distraction or craving for social media but I firmly decided not to touch my phone for that specified time. And when the bell rang I rewarded myself with 5 minutes of social media surfing. After 5 minutes I repeated the cycle till the completion of my task.

Although I found it difficult for the first time but I was astonished when I saw how much work I accomplished and how efficient I was during this experiment. After this experiment, I decided that from now on I will use this experiment as a weapon against procrastination whenever I have to work. Also, this experiment can be improved if we divide our work into sections and then reward ourselves after the completion of each section.

Thanks. Be Safe.
